Developing a positive and realistic view of yourself is an important aspect of positive mental health. Self-esteem refers to a person's overall sense of self-worth and confidence, and it plays a crucial role in shaping one's emotional well-being and behavior. This week we will explore strengths, values, and beliefs. We will also identify personal interests and passions. Engaging in activities that bring joy and fulfillment contributes to a sense of purpose and self-worth.
This week we will look at developing awareness, acceptance, and presence in the current moment. The focus will be on various mindfulness practices, such as mindful breathing, body scan meditation, and loving-kindness meditation. These practices cultivate present-moment awareness and help individuals develop a non-judgmental and accepting attitude towards their thoughts and feelings.
We will look at theskills and insights necessary to build and maintain positive connections with others. Some of the key components and strategies discussed will be communication skills, boundary setting, empathy and perspective taking and conflict resolution.
Many people engage in negative self-talk and limiting beliefs. This week we will identify these negative thoughts, challenge their accuracy, and replace them with more positive and realistic affirmations.
Finding success at school involves a combination of effective study habits, time management, interpersonal skills, and a positive mindset. Some strategies we will cover include time management, organization and healthy study habits.
We will talk about how to develop a healthy and realistic perception of their bodies, fostering self-acceptance, and promoting overall well-being. Some key components and strategies are challenging negative beliefs, promoting self-compassion, media literacy and healthy lifestyle.
Setting achievable goals helps build a sense of accomplishment. Small successes contribute to a positive self-image and enhance confidence. Setting goals is an important step in achieving our dreams.
Teaching effective coping mechanisms this week will help with challenges and setbacks. Learning problem-solving skills and developing resilience can significantly impact the ability to navigate life's difficulties. We will talk about filling our self-regulation toolbox with strategies that work.
Grit is the ability to dig deep when we feel uncomfortable and do what we can to meet our goals. Grit is knowing that we can fall down and then get up and keep trying. This session will discuss what grit is and how to access it when we need it most.
