Join our therapy group to discover the therapeutic benefits of knitting and crochet for managing our mental health. We meet weekly, and each session covers a new topic such as managing anxiety, coping with depression, CBT skills, setting boundaries, handling conflict, navigating friendships, managing emotions, positive body image, and managing screen time. You will also receive take-home handouts. Whether you are new to knitting and crochet or have some experience, you can bring your projects to work on during the sessions and get any help you need. Working from a nonjudgmental, warm and client/family centred approach I support children, youth and families experiencing a variety of challenges. Establishing a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship is important in my work so we can explore strategies that will empower children and youth to discover their strengths, and develop life long skills to gain a sense of belonging and resilience in socially useful ways.

As a former teacher and current school counsellor, Kate has a variety of experiences to draw upon to help support children and families. She works with children experiencing personal, social and behavioural problems, including bullying, body image and self-esteem, depression, anxiety, and anger management. Kate offers a play-based approach and draws from various modalities such as mindfulness, cognitive behavioural therapy and self-compassion. She believes in a collaborative approach with caregivers to provide holistic strategies and compassionate care to her clients.

Jillian recently completed her Masters degree through Yorkville University and is keen to continue her pursuit of counselling. Jillian balances this work with her role in the corporate world, which has strongly contributed to her interest in working with high-achieving young professionals. Her practice is primarily focused around supporting youth and adults as they navigate life transitions.
Whether this be a change in relationships or beginning a new role, Jillian provides tools and strategies to navigate the many new chapters we face.

Sandy has dedicated 15 years to supporting children and families in B.C.'s school system. As both a teacher and counselor, she's helped at-risk youth navigate issues like bullying, anxiety, and self-esteem. Sandy's focus on social-emotional learning is unwavering. She believes in the power of the mind-body connection and is passionate about guiding others towards healing. Using mindfulness and somatic practices, she helps people become more grounded in their bodies. Sandy believes everyone is capable of healing and is honored to support others on their journey to well-being.

Jason de Couto is currently pursuing his Masters of Counselling from City University. He is a professional musician and has also been a public school teacher for 17 years. He enthusiastically brings his diverse life experiences and academic background to his practice and is passionate about creating a safe, inclusive, and non-judgemental space for his clients of all ages and backgrounds. Neda believes that all individuals have the capacity for meaningful change and healing in their lives. She strives to put into practice person-centered therapy and honours the stories and experiences of clients. As a former teacher, Neda is passionate about working with children, youth and their families to support them with personal, social, and behavioural challenges including anxiety, anger management and emotional regulation, low self-esteem, and social isolation. She supports clients through empathetic and non-judgmental listening, and nurturing a safe therapeutic relationship.

Emma recognizes how vulnerable coming to therapy can feel, so she is passionate about providing a non-judgmental, trauma-informed, and adaptable space for everyone she sees. She began her professional career as a pediatric RN at BC Children’s Hospital before starting a private Neurological Integration practice. When time allows, Emma co-facilitates files through North Shore Restorative Justice. She parents three delightful young humans, a blend of adopted and biological children, with her partner of 20 years. Through her diverse experience with children, youth, and families, Emma has observed a need for more mental health support and is thrilled to offer her services through DB and Associates.

Naimeh, with 18 years of experience in teaching, is passionate about sharing her knowledge with parents, children, and adolescents. She believes that each individual can access their inner wisdom and enhance their mental wealth when faced with life's challenges. Naimeh offers a calm and nurturing space for her clients where they are invited to identify their concerns and receive support through their growth journey. Through her compassionate understanding, she cultivates an environment of trust and empathy.

Carol has worked in the BC school systems for 25 years as a teacher and a counsellor. She also has training as a life coach and is becoming certified as a nature-based therapist. She is a compassionate and skillful listener who provides opportunities for people to explore their strengths and challenges in a safe and gentle space. She believes that people will naturally find ways to heal and grow when they have these opportunities. She is highly experienced in using psycho-educational tools and a variety of counselling strategies. She is delighted to be a part of DB Counselling to use her skill set to assist others in their journey of self-discovery and personal growth.
